We have arranged another exclusive event for our members; a briefing with the City of Melbourne on the future of Greenline and how it will shape the city we love.

The Greenline Project seeks to transform the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung into a 4-kilometer stretch of interconnected promenades, enhancing public spaces for events, public art, and recreation. Located on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the project will continually incorporate guidance from Traditional Owners throughout its design and development.

Divided into five precincts—Birrarung Marr, The Falls, River Park, Maritime, and Saltwater Wharf—the project celebrates each site's unique history, habitats, and activities. It is guided by policies and strategies from both the Council and the State Government.

In December 2021, the Future Melbourne Committee (FMC) endorsed the Greenline Implementation Plan​ – outlining the vision for the city-shaping project. On 6 September 2022, FMC further endorsed the business case​ for the Greenline Project - which estimates the project will deliver more than $740 million in net benefits to Melbourne.

Two rounds of community consultations were conducted to gather insights and feedback on the Greenline Project Master Plan​, which was approved by FMC on 5 December 2023. Notably, the Master Plan has received several prestigious awards:

- 2024 Australian Urban Design Award in 'Leadership, Advocacy and Research – City and Regional Scale' category

- 2024 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects 'Urban Design Award of Excellence'

- 2024 World Architecture Festival WAFX award in the Water Category.
